The inspiration was, above all else, from the Rolling Stones song, "Sympathy for the Devil." The song has always conjured a very vivid image of a well-dressed man with horns, so the initial inspiration was fairly easy to translate into the bust. On a more conceptual level, the song has revealed a trend in a lot of my work, both in ceramics and beyond; it is a lot easier, for me, at least, to translate darker concepts and ideas into actual pieces of art and writing. I think its rather fitting, and extremely ironic, that the trend has manifested itself as this devilish bust.
